Collaboration Is One of Our Most Cherished Values
An Uncommon Devotion to Working Together With Advisors and Clients
Most of our clients call upon The Ross Companies to craft highly customized solutions to problems that affluent and wealthy clients encounter. Challenging situations often include planning for estate taxes, financing the buying out of a business partner, and mitigating tax liabilities while supporting a charity or educational institution. As a business with 90 years of history and pedigree, we have an approach that is informed by the real-life situations we have encountered and a history of creating successful solutions.
The Ross Companies places the concept of collaboration as one of our highest values. It is an action we demand of ourselves and something that clients and advisors truly appreciate.
In our industry, some firms collaborate only so far as it serves their interests. This isn’t to say that these are bad firms or bad people, but their values put their bottom line on the top of the pyramid. Our approach is very much the opposite: We want to create a level of participation and comfort between ourselves, our client, and their legal and financial advisors that ensures everyone is on the same page, our goals are aligned, and outcomes are optimal.
One of the things our president, Norman Ross, does that is unusual in this industry is that he is upfront with clients and advisors he will often recommend an advisory engagement on a fee-for-service basis. Commissions are earned for the placement of insurance programs. An advisory or consulting assignment may be appropriate before engaging in the placement of life insurance. A program’s realignment or strategic assessment requires consultative discussion with the client and their advisors and the “audit “ of the existing program. The Ross Companies are life insurance brokers, often meaning we are paid commissions by insurance companies to place a new policy. However, we work around this because, at times, clients have us working on far more than an insurance matter, and they recognize the value our perspective provides.

Our collaborative approach in these cases are the kinds that clients and advisors alike find impressive.
